Holiday Nostalgia (recap)

With the year off to a rocky start for a few reasons (of which I will let you all know soon enough), including this entire post of which I am writing again (lol), I’m so happy to do a quick summary of my holidays.

Firstly, don’t we all look forward to days off?? Hell yes!! We spend most of the year engulfed in work, running daily errands, and everything that comes with that, so the holidays are usually a time to break away from it all and enjoy the warmth of love. For me that is exactly what my holiday consisted of.

I knew that I wanted to do something special with the Mr and get dressed up with live music. So,I chose a jazz lounge! I love all genres of music for the most part, so this was going to be an experience right up my alley. Whether it be big band, smooth jazz, whatever, I can transport to different times and vibes in my mind. It’s safe to say I have a healthy imagination.

The lounge of choice was none other than “The Django” found in the lower level of the Roxy Hotel. We made 7:15 reservations which was perfect timing for the jazz band to come on stage. The mood was great and the ambiance was Holiday Perfect! The swanky vibes you get when you walk in make you feel like you can teleport back in time. There were fixed choices of tapas, vino, and desserts. 2 glasses of Bordeaux for the gentleman, and 2 glasses of Sauvignon Blanc for the lady. An order of mac and cheese (which I love to try everywhere) and beef tartar with a french baguette on the side was the perfect pairing with our wines to share. Once the double bass got going and the harmonies started, it made you want to get snug, sip, and enjoy. (I included a clip below)

I love all things fashion, and this was the perfect reason to wear my sexy green velvet number out. I’m a firm believer in “You look good, you feel good. You feel good, you look good.” And I felt great!

From the outside of the hotel, located in Tribeca, you realize that the decor is meant to bring new school and old school together. There is a cocktail area in the main lobby, where they have music as well, but it isn’t as glamours as “The Django.” Although there are cold brick walls, they have quilted velvet chairs which add textures that warms up the atmosphere. It was everything a girl could want on a date. I’m not really overly romantic, but this was a sweet evening. A lovely night to get dressed up for myself, and my boo too.

Now the reality is, not everyone reading this post will have had the best holiday (and take comfort in knowing my first few days of 2019 weren’t the best either), and I want you to know that, that is ok. Life will have good moments and bad moments; you get to choose what you focus on. Some people were alone, but no need to feel lonely, this will always be a welcoming space. And if I’m being honest, I actually like alone time…. a lot. So don’t look at being alone as a reason to be “lonely.” Any day you are alive is a day to make a memory. Even in moments of suffering, we can find beauty in our life story. Your highlight reel will be one your grandchildren will love to hear about. No matter how you spent your holidays, I hope you found peace in your heart, for moments when you need something to look back on.

We are in 2019 and I’d like to think if you’re reading this, for a moment, we get to be in the same mental space and share it. This year I would like to extend myself and be available if maybe you weren’t so happy. Or you can leave a comment whenever you are ready and comfortable to speak out, your opinion matters. If not, you can always e-mail (found on the “About” pg) or Dm me (found in top right corner of this pg). This is a community of sharing, growing, and learning. I do the same with my best friends as I do with my luvs. Enjoy the days to come. We will have so much to share! As always, I appreciate you.

Surprise files for you….
